Machine Learning (CS 460)

I was a teaching assistant for the Intro to Machine Learning course. A senior and graduate-level course, this introductory course covers a broad range of topics:

  • Simple classifiers, such as decision trees and k-Nearest Neighbors
  • Linear Regression
  • Logistic Regression
  • Multi-layer Learning Perceptrons (MLP)

The final project was a kaggle competiton amongst students where students were able to compete for the best classifier using all the concepts we had learned in class. The class heaviliy features libraries that are used in data science and machine learning work, such as numpy and sklearn.

My responsibilities primarily consisted of assisting students by holding regular office hours and answering emails for students who had further questions. I collaborated on assignment creation, typically implementing the graduate student extra credit. Additionally, I was also responsible for grading assignments and exams.
